Day 28
Somalia
The country’s first effort to flush out Al Shabaab terrorists has been completed, noting that the government is preparing troops who work specifically to secure the gains made in the liberated areas. The people of Somalia have come together to eliminate the terrorist groups. The security forces have shown discipline and loyalty in facing challenges and threats.
We pray for the complete dismantling of the al Shabaab terrorist group along with other splinter groups linked to the Islamic State that operate violently in Somalia (The Holy Bible, Ezekiel 13:14).
Somalia is an East African country that ranks 2nd in the Open Doors Persecution List of Countries. In effect, it is the African Continent’s North Korea. No part of this country is safe for Christians. The al-Shabab, a ruthless terrorist group targets Christians and Christian leaders. This terrorist group is fighting a war against the legitimate Somalian government and the Islamic State remnants in the region. It is one of the poorest countries in the world, yet there is no action from the government to take measures to deal with the problems. This politically unstable environment continues due to greed. Christian leadership is scarce, and there is no scope for fellowship.

Promise to the Nation
Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God (The Bible, Psalm 42:11).
Pakistan is a troubled South Asian country. They have serious problems in almost all areas – economy, political stability, child abuse, violence against women, religious intolerance, terrorism, corruption, oppression by the state, political prisoners, extremely high national debt, unemployment, lack of quality education, and border problems with neighboring countries, to name a few. Their religious intolerance is not instigated but nurtured. They raise their children to harbor hate against minority groups. Pakistan’s controversial blasphemy laws, in particular, are used to terrorize Christians. Terrorism is on the rise and Pakistan has problems with the Taliban in Afghanistan. They also have a longstanding border problem with India. China has emerged as a new economic and defense partner for Pakistan in recent years. However, the Chinese do not invest anywhere without extracting much more than their investment. Today, the Chinese partnership seems inevitable for Pakistan. However, it cannot be a long-term arrangement for the economically challenged country. Saudi Arabia is an ally that supports Pakistan by providing them with aircraft in which the Pakistani government ministers travel abroad. Inflation is skyrocketing due to the removal of subsidies to the population at the insistence of the International Monetary Fund. Pakistan is also home to hundreds of thousands of Afghan refugees who fled Afghanistan when the Taliban takeover happened. The recent problems with terror groups based in Afghanistan created the situation where Pakistan decided to deport all unregistered Afghan refugees. Among them are those who served in the US-backed Afghan government and Afghan Christian Believers. Open Doors lists Pakistan at rank 7 on their Persecuted List of Countries.
