Pakistan: About 20 kilometers from the Dadu district in Sindh, a man waits inside a dilapidated building, where the lingering scent of damp earth from previous floods still hangs in the air. Officially, it is a fully operational school, but what was once a vibrant center of learning now lies empty.
Majeed Leghari, a primary school teacher from Dadu, faces the daunting challenge of educating young minds amidst the devastation left by the catastrophic floods that struck Pakistan nearly three years ago.
At the Government Primary Ibrahim Leghari School in Dadu, textbooks and other educational materials are buried under debris left by the floods. Leghari, who teaches fourth and fifth grades, experienced the disaster firsthand. The images from the floodwaters remain vivid in his mind: floating debris, entire villages turned into swamps, families desperately trying to salvage what they could, and children navigating through waist-deep water and mud. He noted that such scenes are not unfamiliar, as the people of Sindh have repeatedly faced these kinds of horrors.
- Lord, we pray for strength and endurance for Majeed Leghari, a primary school teacher persevering through all challenges to educate young children. Help him find support and guidance to soon rebuild the school (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 9:9).
- Lord, we pray for the children in Dadu district in Sindh who are still reeling under difficulties from the past floods. Help the community stand together and build schools and educate young minds (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 2:6).
