Pakistan: Severe hailstorms hit Islamabad and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, leading to significant damage to vehicles, windscreens, and solar panels, as well as causing flash floods due to heavy rainfall.
The storm, which included strong winds, struck the region in the afternoon. In Islamabad, it lasted about 35 minutes, with large hailstones shattering vehicle windshields and damaging tree branches and leaves. Numerous trees were uprooted in the Tarnol area, causing traffic disruptions.
Children playing in parks were taken by surprise by the sudden storm and were seen rushing home in fear.
The rain and hail provided a much-needed relief from the heat in Islamabad, making the weather more pleasant. However, power outages were reported in several areas, and efforts to restore electricity were in progress.
- Lord , we come to You in this time of natural disaster. As Pakistan witnesses a hailstorm, we ask for Your mercy and protection. We pray that You will calm the storm, diminish its impact, and preserve the safety of all those in its path. Protect homes and livelihoods, and keep them safe from harm (The Holy Bible, Psalms 121:2).
- Lord, we pray that power will be restored in all places. We also pray for the workers restoring power, that they may have the wisdom, skill, and endurance to complete their work quickly and safely (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 41:10).
