Day 16

AUGUST | 2021

Tajikistan

PRAYER FOR THIS COUNTRY

More than 300 people fled Taliban violence in Afghanistan into neighboring Tajikistan, with more people expected in the coming weeks. The refugees included many children and families bringing their livestock with them. Pray for Tajikistan as they respond to the needs of these refugees.  Pray that God will open the door for Christian Believers to go and help. May the Lord open opportunities for the Good News of Jesus Christ to be shared with these refugees. In their desperation, may their hearts and minds be soft and open. Today we declare that now is the time for people all across Tajikistan to step into God’s Kingdom (The Bible, Proverbs 14:31).

MORE ABOUT THIS COUNTRY

Central Asia’s poorest nation, Tajikistan has never recovered from the Soviet era. After five years of civil war following the 1991 Soviet collapse, an UN-brokered peace deal resulted. Secular forces dominate, but economic stability hasn’t returned. Tajikistan voted to allow its president to rule indefinitely. Each year greater legislative restrictions oppress the Tajik masses. Secular forces also dictate religious law. Although the constitution guarantees religious freedom, oppression is widespread. Tajikistan has been terribly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Israel

PRAYER FOR THIS COUNTRY

Lord, bring the Christian Believers into the realization and convince them to exercise the authority in prayer over the situation in Israel. Let them know that whatever they bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever they loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Inspire the Churches to campaign in the name of Jesus Christ and declare the Word of God in agreement with others and ask the Lord to bless the leaders and the new government. Empower them to exalt Your mighty name over the legalistic groups blocking people to accept the Messiah who died for them on the cross of Calvary. Lord, keep Your mighty hand upon the new Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett to establish the right leadership in the region. Lord, guide Isaac Herzog the new president. Direct him as he pledged to heal deep divisions in Israeli society. You are the God who binds the wounds and heals the people with Your compassionate love (The Bible, Matthew 18:18-20).

MORE ABOUT THIS COUNTRY

Israel is a source of division and contention, both in the world and in the Church. Modern analysts can perhaps look to the deep-seated antagonism between Jew and Arab as an outgrowth of tribal hatreds born centuries ago, even reaching back to the children of the Patriarch Abraham. Christianity’s emergence from the root of Israel has led to a confusion of relationship that has shifted like sand through the years, ranging from love and respect to outright persecution. The founding of the State of Israel in 1948 was an astonishing fulfilment of Biblical prophecy and those events surrounding Israel are key to understanding the Last Days.
