Tajikistan

PRAYER FOR THIS COUNTRY

In a country where the government restricts the activities of Christian churches and there is a lot of societal bias against Christianity, one local Christian Believer has found social media is an effective way of sharing his faith. He regularly posts words from the Bible, and people respond with curiosity to ask where the words come from. When he shares that they come from the Bible, people are surprised that a Tajik person reads it. This encounter opens the doors for further conversation. Praise God for creative ways to share faith. Pray that Christians will not feel restricted by fear but that God’s Psalms 91 protection gives them peace, confidence, and courage (The Bible, Ezra 10:4).

MORE ABOUT THIS COUNTRY

Tajikistan is the poorest country in Central Asia. A slew of internal and external armed conflicts prevented any economic growth since the formation of the republic in 1991. While half of the 9 million people are under 25, Tajikistan hosts the largest Muslim population in Central Asia. A prominent saying in Tajikistan states that Only a Muslim is a True Tajik. Consequentially, Christian converts from Islam face the severest of persecution. Only state-authorized Russian Orthodox churches operate without persecution. Classified as “Extremist” in nature, all protestant churches face different levels of extreme persecution against them.

Israel

PRAYER FOR THIS COUNTRY

The horrific sudden terror attack by Hamas militants on Israel left many hundreds killed and thousands wounded. Apart from the Israelites killed, many foreign nationals also were gunned down. The country of Israel has announced a full-fledged war and started retaliatory attacks, pounding the terrorist hideouts. Israel’s military has given a deadline for the Gazans to relocate. The bereaved families asked the Government to take all possible steps to bring back home those kidnapped and kept hostage by the terrorists. A complete siege is underway to eliminate the terror cells. Pray for Israeli sympathizers as well as those who sympathize with Palestinians to refrain from causing more violence in their demonstrations in both America and Europe (The Bible, Psalm 11:5). Pray that Israeli and Palestinian Christian believers to be protected in these bombardments by both the countries (The Bible, Daniel 12:1).

MORE ABOUT THIS COUNTRY

On October 7, 2023, more than 3,000 rockets fired by Hamas (a militant group in the Palestinian territory) rained on southern Israeli towns. In a subsequent assault by land and sea, Hamas killed over 1000 Israelis, 22 American citizens, and several other foreign tourists. In addition, several hundred Israeli citizens and tourists are held hostage by Hamas to try and soften an Israeli response. As in the past, the terrorist organization badly underestimated the resolve of their Jewish opponent. After a fierce missile and aerial attack that killed nearly a thousand Palestinians in Gaza and more than 50 casualties in the West Bank, the Israel Defense Force (IDF) mobilized thousands of reserves for a ground war. With a Unified Government for the War on Hamas leading the charge, Israel aims to erase the terrorist organization from existence. The attack caught Israeli intelligence agencies by surprise. Ironically, the attacks happened because Israeli troops relocated from the south to protect settlements in the West Bank in recent months.
