An Emerging Movement in Bangladesh

Bangladesh is a Muslim nation next to Myanmar. For many years, their fellow Muslims from the Rohingya people have come from Myanmar as refugees. The situation has been very difficult for the Rohingyas who had to flee for their lives, as well as for the Bangladeshis who live in a country that already has a high population density.

In this tense and difficult situation, Christian Believers have reached out to the Rohingyas. Some are meeting their physical needs. Others are meeting their spiritual needs when fear and despair are natural. These rejected and literally “cast out” people need to hear of the loving God who loves the foreigner and the refugee. At long last, there are 200 new Rohingya believers in Christ. Some are declaring their devotion to Christ among their Muslim neighbors! They are joining discipleship groups, so they can learn to follow the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. As they get discipled, they can disciple others, who can disciple still others. There can be a movement to Christ among the Rohingyas; let’s pray to that end.

Let us pray fervently for:

  • For Rohingya disciples to understand and teach the Word of God to others (The Bible, Psalm 119:12-13).
  • Pray for the Lord to protect new Rohingya disciples (The Bible, Psalm 91:4).
  • A leader has called 30 denominations and Christian organizations to pray for Bangladesh. Pray their intercession will reach the Throne of Grace on behalf of the Muslims of Bangladesh (The Bible, Psalm 141:2).
