Sudan has been trapped in a brutal civil war since April 2023, driven by a power struggle between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). With over 62,000 lives lost and 14 million displaced, the conflict reflects deep-rooted historical, political, and ethnic tensions. The roots lie in decades of authoritarian rule, marginalization, colonial-era divisions, and the failed integration of the RSF into the national army. A failed democratic transition, worsened by economic collapse after South Sudan’s secession in 2011, has left the country unstable. Rival generals Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo now battle for control, turning Sudan into a battleground of regional and international interests. Amid severe humanitarian crises and systemic inequality, a lasting resolution demands inclusive dialogue, political reform, and prioritization of Sudanese needs over foreign influence. Without urgent peace efforts, the cycle of violence and displacement is likely to worsen further.

Pray against all foreign influences exacerbating the conflict in Sudan. Pray for the LORD to raise up peacemakers to end the brutal civil war in the country (The Holy Bible, Matthew 5:9).

Pray for the LORD’s healing power upon the land and the people in Sudan. Pray for peace and justice to prevail in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 4:8).
