Drug smuggling continues to be a major problem in Indonesia, where the nation is both a destination and transit zone for illegal narcotics. During the first two months of 2025 alone, authorities confiscated 4.1 tons of different drugs, mainly methamphetamine and ecstasy, from international syndicates. The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) classified 14 foreign drug syndicates in 2024, including links to the Sinaloa Cartel, as Indonesia became a member of international drug networks. The country’s long coastline and many islands make it challenging for law enforcement, and traffickers find it easy to use sea routes to smuggle goods. Although Indonesia’s drug laws are strict, such as the imposition of the death penalty for trafficking, the consistent flow of drugs is evidence that requires greater international cooperation and security at borders to address this continued problem.
Pray against drug trafficking in Indonesia. Pray for the government to implement more stringent measures to eradicate the drug trafficking rings working in the country. (The Holy Bible, Psalm 10:15).
Pray for unity and cooperation between international leaders to eradicate drug trafficking in Indonesia and its neighboring countries. Pray for the LORD to thwart all the plans of the evildoers in the country. (The Holy Bible, Job 5:12).
