Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil Idris dissolved the caretaker government shortly after taking office, following years of conflict. Sudan has been engulfed in civil war since April 2023, when tensions between the military and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) erupted into violence across Khartoum and other regions. Idris condemned countries supporting the RSF and pledged sincere service to the nation, but did not announce when a new government would form. The war has caused devastating humanitarian consequences, with at least 24,000 reported deaths and over 14 million displaced, including 4 million refugees in neighboring countries. The conflict has been marked by severe atrocities, such as mass rape and ethnic killings, particularly in Darfur, which the UN and rights groups classify as war crimes and crimes against humanity. Famine has also been declared in multiple areas, with Darfur as the epicenter of the crisis.

Pray for the LORD’s intervention in Sudan to end the devastating war across the nations. Pray for the wise counsel for the authorities to work towards a peaceful end to the conflict. Pray for political stability in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 31:15).

GOD of all comforts, have mercy on the people of Sudan suffering war, food insecurity, and displacement. LORD, restore their destination towards safety and prosperity (The Holy Bible, Psalm 17:9).
