Violence in South Sudan’s Nasir County, Upper Nile State, has increased. Clashes occur between the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) and armed youth. On February 14, 2025, SSPDF hit civilians, resulting in civilian casualties, injuring a peacekeeper and displacing thousands. Airstrikes on February 25 hit civilian areas, escalating tensions. The conflict shows that key security reforms from the 2018 peace deal remain undone, including full unification of South Sudan’s armed forces.
Pray for the LORD’s peace to prevail in Nasir County, South Sudan. Pray for divine protection upon all the civilians and peacekeepers in the region (The Holy Bible, Psalm 64:1).
Pray for the complete implementation of key security reforms from ‘the 2018 peace deal’ in South Sudan. Pray for the perpetrators behind these attacks to be quickly brought to justice (The Holy Bible, Job 36:6).
