Poverty and limited opportunity, particularly in rural regions, are key drivers of the increase in sex work in Thailand. Most people, especially those from rural and developing areas, experience limited access to education, health care, and secure employment. With few practical options, sex work is a viable choice because it offers a relatively high and quick income. Youths, particularly women and transgender persons, frequently move to urban areas such as Bangkok and Pattaya to seek improved economic prospects to help their families at home. Remittances from sex workers are a significant source of income for some households. The overwhelming contrast between rural poverty and urban economic possibility still drives individuals into the sex industry, illustrating the depth to which economic disparities are feeding its existence and expansion in the nation. These disparities need to be addressed to provide individuals with safer, more sustainable means of livelihood.

Pray for more economic opportunities for all the people, including those from rural and developing areas, in Thailand. Pray for the LORD to deliver the people trapped in the sex trade and bless them with hope and a bright future (The Holy Bible, Jeremiah 29:11).

Pray for the government to take effective action to eradicate the sex trade in Thailand. Pray for the authorities to come up with more job opportunities for all the people without any partiality (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 15:22).
