Türkiye’s main opposition leader, Ozgur Ozel, called for elections to be held by November 2025, following widespread unrest sparked by the detention of Ekrem Imamoglu, Istanbul’s popular opposition mayor and a major challenger to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Ozel urged Erdogan to face their candidate in the elections and emphasized the will of the people. The protests that erupted after Imamoglu’s arrest were hailed as “the greatest motion of censure in history” by the opposition. Thousands rallied across Türkiye, calling it a “coup d’etat.” In response, the government cracked down on the protests, detaining nearly 2,000 individuals, including students, journalists, and activists. Ozel also called for weekly protests nationwide, expanding beyond Istanbul.

Pray for the release of the imprisoned protestors in Türkiye. Pray for the end of political unrest in the nation. Pray for peace and justice to prevail in the country (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 1:17).

Pray for unity and oneness among the leaders of Türkiye and peaceful dialogue to end the protests in the nation. Pray for them to prioritize the well-being of the people and the country (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 21:15).
