Around 70% of Morocco’s farms are family-run, yet they remain underfunded and overlooked in public policies. Abdelkader Amara, President of the Economic, Social, and Environmental Council (CESE), emphasized the need for a fairer and more inclusive approach during a council meeting discussing a new report on small and medium-sized family farming. Based on expert input, field visits, and a national consultation, the report highlights key challenges: weak support services (27%), climate vulnerability (20%), poor organization (16%), and limited financing (14.5%). Amara stressed that family farming is vital for food security, jobs, biodiversity, and rural stability. However, it receives only MAD 14.5 billion in funding, compared to MAD 99 billion for high-value agriculture. The CESE calls for making family farming a national priority, with tailored action plans to improve infrastructure, income diversification, and access to services while regulating intermediaries and marketing chains.

Pray for the government of Morocco to implement effective measures to diversify the economy and to improve public policies. Pray for economic stability and food security in the country (The Holy Bible, Job 12:13).

Pray for the families doing farming in Morocco to have access to government support services. Pray for improved lives and livelihoods of the civilians. (The Holy Bible, Psalm 72:12).
