Militant Hinduism has Consequences

There are many ways that militant religion causes pain and suffering. Sometimes they damage themselves, and other times they harm others. In early January, we have an example of each.

Hindu festivals involve tens of thousands of devotees, and deadly stampedes are common. On New Year’s Day, there was a stampede at the shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi, a manifestation of the Hindu Mother Goddess, Devi. Indian police say the stampede started with a conflict between two devotees. Sadly, twelve Hindu devotees now face a Christless eternity.

The second example was destructive to others. Hindu militants sent out a tweet for “Sulli Deals,” as if they were selling these women as slaves. Sulli is a disrespectful term used by Hindu militants for Muslim women. The purpose was to humiliate and intimidate these women, most of whom are well-educated professionals.

Let us pray fervently for:

  • Hindus to recognize the truth about quarrels as taught in The Bible (The Bible, James 4:1-2)
  • Hindus to look for leaders who bear good fruit. (The Bible, Matthew 7:17-20)
  • Hindus to understand that only Jesus Christ has the spiritual answers they need. (The Bible, Acts 4:12)
  • Muslim women to understand that Jesus loves them gives them dignity, and respect. (The Bible, Mark 16:9)
