Maldives: Twelve people have applied for the two vacancies on the Supreme Court. The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) opened applications for the positions last month following the dismissal of two Supreme Court judges. The applicants, who sent in their documents before the deadline, are a mix of serving and retired judges and prominent legal professionals. According to the constitution, the Supreme Court is to have seven justices, but currently only five sit on the bench.
