China: Harvard University’s connections to China, which have historically been beneficial for the institution, are now seen as a drawback as the Trump administration accuses the university of being influenced by Beijing-backed operations. The administration has taken steps to revoke Harvard’s ability to admit foreign students, claiming that the university promotes antisemitism and collaborates with the Chinese Communist Party. Chinese nationals constituted approximately 20% of Harvard’s foreign student population in 2024, according to the university. Concerns regarding Chinese government influence at Harvard are not new; several U.S. lawmakers, predominantly Republicans, have voiced fears that China is using Harvard to access advanced U.S. technology, evade U.S. security regulations, and suppress criticism of its actions within the United States.
- Pray for the leaders of the Chinese government, including Xi Jinping, to be open to the truth and to recognize the sovereignty of God over their nation. Pray for the development of strong moral leadership in both the US and China (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 3:5).
- Pray for a resolution that allows for continued collaboration and mutual benefit between Harvard University and countries. Pray for the students who may be affected, that they experience peace, strength, and support during this uncertain time (The Holy Bible, Psalms 32:8).
