Migrant workers, making up 42% of Saudi Arabia’s population, face widespread labor abuses. Human Rights Watch has documented issues like illegal recruitment fees, wage theft, and dangerous working conditions, especially in mega-projects like NEOM. Due to the practice of ‘Kafala System’ under which a migrant worker’s legal status is tied to their employer (the sponsor) and the weak enforcement of the ‘Labor Reform Initiatives’ in the country, the migrant workers are more vulnerable to employer exploitation. As Saudi Arabia prepares to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, concerns grow over further rights violations and exploitation.
Father GOD, we pray for justice and fair treatment for all migrant workers facing exploitation in Saudi Arabia. We pray for the immediate and effective implementation of ‘Labor Reform Initiatives’ in the country to protect the workers (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 1:17).
Almighty GOD, we pray for Your divine protection upon all the migrant workers who are working in dangerous conditions. May they experience kindness and fairness in their workplace (The Holy Bible, Job 36:6).
