The National Police Headquarters has stated that during the five-day Khmer New Year celebration, from April 12 to 16, 2025, there were 44 traffic accidents across the country, resulting in 36 deaths and 66 serious injuries. The Department of Traffic and Public Order Police has confirmed that the factors that cause traffic accidents during the four-day Khmer New Year celebrations are speeding, driving on the wrong side of the road, overtaking dangerously, making dangerous turns, not respecting the right of way, and driving under the influence of alcohol, especially at night.
