Sexual violence against women and minors in Mauritania is a widespread issue, exacerbated by cultural taboos and underreporting. Despite statistics showing significant cases of physical and sexual violence, many remain silent due to societal pressures. Commissioner Hindou Mohamed Laghdaf’s brigade works tirelessly to address these crimes, raising awareness, encouraging reporting, and supporting survivors. Though progress is being made, challenges persist, including societal stigma, lack of resources, and slow legal reforms. The fight for justice and protection continues.
GOD of justice, empower leaders to ensure accountability and justice in all cases of sexual violence in Mauritania. Break the chains of social and cultural taboos. LORD, help the communities stand against injustice and speak up for those in need (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 1:17).
El Roi, we pray for all women and girls in Mauritania to find refuge and safety under Your Mighty Presence. We pray for Your healing and restoration power upon all the sexual victims in the country (The Holy Bible, Genesis 16:13).
