The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI), Ali Al-Alaq, said that Iraq is strongly committed to fighting money laundering and the funding of terrorism. He spoke at a recent conference in Baghdad and explained that Iraq is working closely with other countries to follow international rules. He also said that Iraq is open and clear about its financial data, which helps track the movement of money. Al-Alaq admitted that there were problems in the past, but said the Central Bank has taken good steps to fix them and reduce risks. He also shared that Iraq is starting a big plan to improve its private banks. This plan focuses on making banking services available to more people, strengthening laws and rules, and using digital ID technology to fight financial crime.

Abba Father, we ask that You help Iraq’s banking institutions remain honest and transparent. Grant wisdom to their leaders as they strive to fight corruption and create financial systems that are fair and safe. Give them strength and determination to build a system that truly serves all people with integrity (The Bible, Proverbs 10:9).

Lord, bless the efforts to counter terrorist financing and promote justice within Iraq. Let peace prevail through righteous governance and the establishment of secure financial practices (The Bible, Amos 5:24).
