Kenyan workers employed domestically in Saudi Arabia are severely abused and exploited. They are often tricked by Kenyan recruiters and, upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, are subjected to extreme overwork, 16-hour days with no breaks or days off, as well as physical, sexual, and verbal abuse. Employers frequently confiscate passports and phones, isolating workers and leaving them vulnerable. Numerous women affirm being unpaid or underpaid, surviving on scraps or very little to eat, and having to sleep in inhumane conditions. There is widespread racism, with workers having names thrown at them and being regarded as inferior because of their African origins. The exploitative Kafala system, which ties workers to employers, still largely exists, keeping domestic workers outside the bounds of effective legal protection.
Pray against the Kafala system, which exploits the rights and freedom of migrant workers in Saudi Arabia. Pray for the Saudi government to implement reforms to end the violence against migrant workers in the country (The Holy Bible, Deuteronomy 1:17).
Pray for migrant workers, especially women domestic workers, suffering abuse and violence in Saudi Arabia. Pray for them to have access to all rights and freedoms. Pray for divine protection upon them. (The Holy Bible, Jeremiah 51:36).
