MALDIVES: President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasized the government’s strong dedication to creating a Maldives where every woman and girl can live without fear of violence, whether at home, at work, in their communities, or online. This statement comes as the Maldives observes the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and kicks off the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. In his message, the president pointed out the urgent need to stop all types of violence. He noted that advancements in technology and artificial intelligence have increased risks of digital abuse and made online threats more serious. This year’s theme, “UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls,” highlights the rising issue of online harassment and exploitation. The president stressed that technology should be used as a tool for empowerment, not harm.

  • Pray that God will protect every woman and girl in the Maldives and around the world from all forms of violence—whether physical, emotional, or digital. Ask God to raise a hedge of protection over homes, workplaces, communities, and online spaces (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 54:17).
  • Pray that technology and AI will be used as tools for empowerment, dignity, and justice. Ask God to grant leaders, tech developers, and communities wisdom to prevent digital abuse and to promote safe and uplifting online environments (The Holy Bible, Psalm 91:11).
