As June marks one year since the Houthis in Yemen arbitrarily detained dozens of UN, NGO, and diplomatic staff, UN Secretary-General António Guterres has renewed calls for their immediate and unconditional release. He condemned the death of a World Food Programme staff member in detention and demanded a full investigation. Guterres stressed that aid workers should never be targeted for doing their jobs and warned that these arrests harm humanitarian work and peace efforts. He urged the Houthis to show compassion and free the detainees, some of whom have been held since 2021. He assured the detainees that they were not forgotten and promised continued UN efforts to secure their freedom. Guterres also called on the international community to stand in solidarity and increase pressure for the release of those still unjustly held in Yemen.

Pray for the immediate and unconditional release of all the arbitrarily detained humanitarian workers in Yemen. Pray for divine protection upon all the humanitarian workers in the nation (The Holy Bible, Psalm 17:13).

Pray for the international authorities to take immediate action for the release of all the humanitarian workers in Yemen. Pray for justice to prevail for the victims (The Holy Bible, Deuteronomy 24:17).
