Heavy fighting broke out between Syria’s new government forces and loyalists of deposed President Bashar al-Assad in coastal areas, marking the worst violence since rebels toppled Assad in December. Over 1,300 people were killed, mostly civilians. The coastal region, home to the Assad family and the Alawite minority, faces increasing violence. The government announced the formation of an independent committee to investigate the atrocities and called for national unity, while hundreds of civilians fled to Russian military bases and neighboring Lebanon for refuge.
Pray for the end of the political unrest in Syria. Pray for divine protection upon all the civilians in the coastal region of the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 82:4).
Pray for the perpetrators behind this violence to be made accountable for their evil acts. Pray for justice and peace to prevail in Syria (The Holy Bible, Psalm 140:12).
