The conflict in Sudan has left a serious humanitarian crisis in which sexual violence is more widely used as an instrument of fear. More than 12 million women, girls, and men are exposed to the risk of harm, greatly up from the past year. Layla herself is a survivor who was imprisoned, beaten, and saw barbaric sexual brutality in jail. Others, including the 16-year-old Layla, met while being held by rebels, have experienced extreme trauma. Despite the circumstances, UNFPA delivers essential reproductive health services via mobile teams and safe spaces. Yet, attacks on health facilities and budget cuts endanger their work. UNFPA needs fund support urgently to continue their work, as the conflict and violence currently raging pose grave danger to millions of Sudanese women and girls.
Almighty GOD, we cry out for our beloved sisters and girl children in Sudan facing sexual violence. LORD, have mercy and compassion on Your dear daughters in the country. Heal their hearts and bodies and protect them from further harm (The Holy Bible, Psalm 147:3).
Sovereign LORD, we pray for Your intervention to bring an end to the violence in Sudan and restore peace to the nation and its people. LORD, we pray for Your protection over the innocent, especially women and children, in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 6:2).
