Day 9
Azerbaijan
Praise Points
Praise God for House Church leaders in Azerbaijan for their perseverance in discipling Christian Believers while facing extreme persecution (The Bible, Revelation 2:10).
Praise God for courageous journalists and anti-corruption activists who work tirelessly to bring justice to the people of Azerbaijan (The Bible, Matthew 5:6).
Prayer Points
Pray for God to raise His Children to high positions in the Azerbaijani justice system, who will root out corruption completely (The Bible, Psalm 1:1).
Pray for God’s protection for independent news agencies, journalists, and anti-corruption activists in Azerbaijan (The Bible, Psalm 62:8).
Pray for God’s Hand to safeguard the Azerbaijani Church as they boldly declare the Gospel of Jesus Christ (The Bible, Isaiah 25:4).
A Call to Salvation
Let the strongholds of corruption, greed, lust, and cruelty be demolished in Jesus’ Name in Azerbaijan. Let the Holy Spirit break through the hard-heartedness of the wicked in the land and convict them into repentance (The Bible, Luke 13:3).
Promise for the Nation
They will say of me, ‘In the Lord alone are deliverance and strength.’” All who have raged against Him will come to Him and be put to shame (The Bible, Isaiah 45:24).
Azerbaijan is a Central Asian country that once produced almost half of the world’s oil output. The country recently fought a six-day war and annexed the Nagorno-Karabakh enclave while displacing over 150,000 Armenians living in the area. The country is led by Ilham Aliyev, who controversially replaced his father after the latter’s demise in 2003. Subsequent elections have come under scrutiny, with the opposition parties accusing the government of large-scale election malpractice. The independent media is constantly under threat in Azerbaijan. Journalists and anti-corruption voices face harassment, imprisonment, and torture frequently. The Church in Azerbaijan is under siege by criminal elements in the government. Attacks on home churches, in particular, are on the rise, along with discrimination based on faith.
Day 9
Mali
Praise Points
Praise God for the perseverance of mission workers in Mali despite extreme violence against them (The Bible, 2 Corinthians 12:10).
Praise God for blessing the land with abundant resources. Praise God for the fertile land in Mali (The Bible, Psalm 128:2).
Prayer Points
Pray for God’s Protection for Christian Believers in Mali. Pray for God’s Protection of Christian Missionaries still active in the country (The Bible, Deuteronomy 28:1).
Pray for the political turmoil in Mali to end and for a stable government (The Bible, Psalm 128:1).
Pray for the salvation of Islamic State groups. Pray for them to experience the true love of God and repent their actions (The Bible, 2 Corinthians 7:10).
A Call to Salvation
Let the groundwork done by missionaries in Mali under extreme threat be fruitful, and may God bless the nation with a bountiful Kingdom Harvest (The Bible, John 15:2).
Promise for the Nation
“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (The Bible, John 16:33).
Mali is a mineral-rich West African country. Agriculture is the primary produce. Subsequent governments and military regimes failed to create industrial infrastructure to process the minerals. This inaction made Mali vulnerable economically. The unemployment rate is rising, especially without industrial infrastructure or foreign investments. Once entirely dependent on critical imports from the West, the latest military coup makes it impossible to acquire them anymore. This political development also increased the terror that Islamic State-affiliated groups unleashed extreme violence against the Christians. Burning down churches and attacking missionaries is rampant across the country. In addition, violence in the southern agricultural belt is on the rise, with the Fulani herders militia fighting with the farmers over grazing grounds. Mali ranks 14th in the Open Doors Persecution Index in 2024 with an advancement of 3 places from 2023.
