Japan: In March, ten university students from Niigata Prefecture traveled to Texas to explore agriculture and climate change as part of a Japan-U.S. exchange program. During their six-day visit, the Japanese students collaborated with their Texan counterparts. The Texas students are expected to visit Niigata Prefecture this August. This initiative is supported by the U.S.-Japan Council, which fosters exchanges between the two nations, in collaboration with Tanaka Sangyo, a construction firm based in Joetsu, Niigata Prefecture. Due to a decline in the number of rice farmers, the company has expanded its rice cultivation by 150 hectares over the last five years by acquiring fields from those who have exited the industry. The U.S. Embassy in Japan, which had previously collaborated with the company, facilitated this partnership.
- Heavenly Father, please protect the students on their journey to the exchange program. Surround them with your loving care and keep them safe from harm. Pray that God will guide the students in their decision-making, both in the application process and during their time abroad. Ask for wisdom to discern the best course of action for their growth and development (The Holy Bible, Joshua 1:9).
- Lord, we pray that the students will be encouraged in faith and spiritual growth, asking for guidance to navigate new cultural and spiritual environments. Pray for discernment and discernment in their faith journey (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 3:5).
