Myanmar: Students at Mandalay University whose answers from the university entrance exam were destroyed in last month’s earthquake will be required to retake the test in June, according to a decision made by the military regime.

The 2024-25 matriculation exams took place from March 17 to 22, with 220,843 students registering and over 200,000 actually participating. The devastating earthquake on March 28 caused buildings on the university campus to collapse, resulting in fires that destroyed 376,956 answer sheets from 62,954 Grade 12 students. An announcement published in a junta-controlled outlet on April 22 stated that the affected students, primarily from Kachin State, Mandalay Region, Sagaing Region, and Naypyitaw, are now set to retake the exam between June 16 and 21.

  • Lord, we pray for all the students in the earthquake-hit regions who will be retaking their exams; may Your powerful intervention bring a positive impact on them. Help them forget all the trauma and find hope (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 1:7).
  • Lord, as students prepare for their exams, may Your guidance and encouragement be upon all the children who trust and put their hope in You (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 4:13).
