Kuwait: A strong dust storm moved into Kuwait from the west on Monday, significantly reducing visibility throughout the country and leading authorities to issue health and safety alerts. The meteorological department confirmed that the storm affected all regions and is expected to persist through the night.
In response to the dust storm, the ministry of education announced that all schools will conduct classes remotely on Tuesday to ensure student safety while continuing the educational process. Teaching and administrative staff must report to school in person, while lessons will be delivered via the Teams platform.
Dherar Al-Ali, the acting director of the meteorological department, informed KUNA that visibility varied from 1,000 meters to less than 100 meters, with some areas experiencing zero visibility. He noted that northwesterly winds exceeded 60 km/h, and automated monitoring stations, managed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, recorded gusts over 80 km/h, creating waves taller than six feet and spreading dust across the nation. Al-Ali mentioned that weather conditions are anticipated to gradually improve starting Tuesday morning and encouraged the public to stay informed through the department’s official website, mobile app, and social media channels.
- Lord, we pray and ask for Your healing touch upon those who may be experiencing respiratory issues or other health problems due to the dust storm. Bring comfort and peace to their hearts (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 3:23).
- Lord, we pray for the children in Kuwait, who are suffering due to the dust storm. We thank You for the government’s decision to safeguard children while continuing their education process. May they be guided by Your divine wisdom (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 18:10).
