Amid escalating tensions in South Sudan, international leaders and organizations have ramped up efforts to mediate peace. The African Union (AU) has deployed prominent figures, including former Burundi president Domitien Ndayizeye and Kenyan judge Effie Owuor, to Juba for talks following the house arrest of First Vice President Riek Machar. The AU’s Peace and Security Council has called for Machar’s immediate release to uphold the 2018 peace agreement. Additionally, former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga has attempted to mediate but has been blocked from meeting Machar. UN Secretary-General António Guterres has also urged the global community to take a unified approach to prevent South Sudan from slipping back into civil war, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

Pray for divine wisdom, understanding, and favor for the international leaders who arrived in South Sudan to facilitate the peace talks. Pray that the Holy Spirit of GOD softens the hearts of the South Sudanese leaders, leading them to reconciliation and unity (The Holy Bible, Exodus 36:1).

Pray for divine protection upon all the civilians in South Sudan, especially the vulnerable, caught in the crossfire of the conflict. Pray for the divine provision of shelter, food, and other physical and spiritual needs of the people in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 91:4).
