A recent report by the Israel National Council for the Child paints a heartbreaking picture of how the Israel-Hamas war is affecting children and teenagers. Since the conflict began, 56 children have been killed, 389 have lost at least one parent, and more than 23,000 have experienced physical or emotional trauma. The chaos of war has also fueled a disturbing rise in domestic violence, with increases in cases of murder, attempted murder, and sexual assault within homes. Even more alarming is the sharp rise in suicide attempts, particularly among younger children. Despite these growing concerns, critical support services for children have faced budget cuts. The report warns of long-lasting damage to children’s mental health and development and calls for urgent action to protect and support the most vulnerable.
Abba Father, we bring all the little souls in Israel into Your Presence. Please heal their hearts and minds, which have been corrupted by the war and violence around them. Let their focus be on You, the Author and Finisher of our faith and hope. Fill them with Your divine Presence, love, and peace (The Holy Bible, Hebrews 12:1-2).
Pray for the authorities to implement more effective measures to provide for and protect the children in Israel, who are affected by the war and its consequences. Pray for the authorities and citizens to provide for the physical and psychological needs of the children in their homes and neighborhoods (The Holy Bible, Matthew 25:40).
