Education in Niger faces severe disruption due to ongoing insecurity, particularly in the Tillabéri region, where nearly 1,000 schools remain closed. Armed violence and persistent instability have forced hundreds of thousands of students out of classrooms, with over 444,000 children requiring emergency education support. Girls are especially affected, making up more than half of those impacted. In rural and impoverished communities, only 19% of girls complete primary education, and that figure drops to 8% in the poorest areas. Early marriage, poverty, and lack of infrastructure further limit educational opportunities. Humanitarian organizations are struggling to meet urgent needs, including safe learning spaces, school materials, and psychosocial support for traumatized students. Without immediate and sustained intervention, Niger risks losing a generation of children to illiteracy, poverty, and continued instability, deepening the cycle of vulnerability and underdevelopment in the region. Education remains both a challenge and a hope.

Pray for wise counsel for the authorities to come up with creative initiatives to eradicate illiteracy in Niger. Pray for more educational opportunities for all the children in the country (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 20:18).

LORD, we stand in the gap for all the children in Niger. We plead for Your divine intervention in the country for the little souls to have access to education and other basic needs. LORD, equip them and use them for Your Glory, Father (The Holy Bible, Psalm 127:4).
