A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit Myanmar and Thailand on March 28, 2025, resulting in enormous widespread destruction, especially in Bangkok. The quakes, which were unusual for the city, led to the collapse of a 30-story building in the Bang Sue district, where workers were trapped and killed; at least 21 people with 75 still missing. Rescue efforts using drones and sniffer dogs are still ongoing as authorities try to retrieve survivors. The quake declared a state of emergency in Bangkok and put building safety into question. Although authorities have allayed fears that buildings can withstand earthquakes, there are still questions regarding the city’s preparedness for similar incidents in the future.
Father GOD, we ask for Your divine protection over all the lives affected by the earthquake in Bangkok, Indonesia. LORD, comfort those who have lost their loved ones and heal those who are injured (The Holy Bible, Psalm 147:3).
Almighty GOD, grant strength and wisdom to the rescue teams as they work tirelessly to save the lives trapped under the rubble. We plead for Your divine protection and mercy upon the people still missing. Grant wisdom for the authorities to implement more precautionary measures to avoid such incidents in the future (The Holy Bible, Psalm 71:3).
