Lao authorities are urging the public and all sectors to remain vigilant in preventing the spread of dengue fever, especially during the rainy season, which creates ideal breeding conditions for mosquitoes. As of June 4, 2025, the Lao Ministry of Health reported 1,370 dengue cases nationwide, with no fatalities so far. The highest number of cases was recorded in the capital, Vientiane, with 456 infections, followed by Luang Namtha province with 159 cases, and Sekong province with 153. With the increased risk of infection, the Ministry of Health is promoting community efforts to prevent mosquito breeding. Health officials recommend five simple measures: sealing unused containers, flushing out standing water, placing guppy fish in water jars to eat larvae, cleaning household surroundings, and repeating these steps every week. These actions are considered the most effective household-based strategies to reduce the spread of this mosquito-borne disease.
Pray for the LORD’s protection upon all the people in Laos from the Dengue fever outbreak. Pray for the LORD’s healing power upon all the infected victims (The Holy Bible, Matthew 8:7).
Pray for wise counsel for the Lao authorities to implement precautionary measures to combat the spread of the disease (The Holy Bible, Exodus 18:19).
