Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, has seen a rise in COVID-19 cases after weeks of low numbers, with 79 new cases reported last week compared to just a few in April. The total cases in 2025 have reached 204, which is still 43% lower than the same period in 2024. Two Covid-related deaths occurred, both involving patients with serious underlying health issues like leukemia and diabetes. The dominant virus strain is the NB.1.8.1 variant, an Omicron sub-lineage found in over 20 countries. Although infections are increasing, the World Health Organization states this variant doesn’t cause more severe illness or evade immunity significantly. Vietnam’s Ministry of Health urges the public to remain vigilant, especially during the summer travel season, warning that increased movement and large gatherings could further spread the virus. Hospitals continue treating mostly mild cases, but caution remains key.
Pray for wise counsel for the authorities to curb the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak in Vietnam. Pray for the success of all the efforts of the government to control the transmission of the virus (The Holy Bible, Psalm 44:26).
Pray for divine protection upon all the civilians in Vietnam. Pray for the LORD’s healing power upon all the infected victims. (The Holy Bible, Exodus 15:26).
