In April, Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity reported 610 transportation-related accidents across the country, resulting in 628 deaths and 1,207 injuries. Road accidents were the most significant, with 567 incidents killing 583 people. Motorcycles were involved in the highest number of fatal accidents—229 deaths from 215 crashes. The Chittagong division recorded the highest number of accidents, while Sylhet had the fewest. Contributing factors include reckless driving, unfit vehicles, traffic violations, and inadequate road infrastructure. BJKS recommended several safety measures including better infrastructure, halting imports of certain vehicles, and stricter regulations.
Abba Father, we lift up the people of Bangladesh and all road users around the world. We ask for Your protection over travelers, drivers, and pedestrians. Help leaders implement life-saving safety measures and instill responsibility in every road user. May Your hand guide and guard every journey. In Jesus’ name. Amen (The Bible, Psalm 121:8).
Lord, we bring before You the families who have lost loved ones and those recovering from injuries. Bring healing, comfort, and peace to their hearts. In Jesus’ name. Amen (The Bible, Psalm 147:3).
