Afghanistan’s healthcare system is in deep crisis, worsened by political instability, economic collapse, and severe Taliban restrictions. Hospitals across the country, like those in Zabul, Balkh, and Badakhshan, are overcrowded and critically short of medicines, equipment, and staff. Women and children are most at risk, with maternal mortality nearly three times the global average. Foreign aid cuts and mismanagement have crippled services, while Taliban policies banning women from education and healthcare work have further reduced access to care. Patients suffer from preventable illnesses, malnutrition, and a lack of treatment. Many female doctors have fled the country, leaving wards understaffed, with nurses and doctors overworked and underpaid. Public hospitals now operate beyond their intended capacity, and patients often lie on the floor. The few remaining aid resources are frequently directed toward Taliban-affiliated groups. With little hope for reform or recovery, millions in Afghanistan are left without the medical support they desperately need.
Pray for the authorities to take immediate action to curb the maternal mortality rates and to improve the healthcare system in Afghanistan. Pray for improved maternal care services for all women and children in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 139:16).
Pray for divine protection for all the civilians and healthcare workers in Afghanistan. Pray for uninterrupted healthcare provision for all the people in dire need (The Holy Bible, Psalm 141:8).
