Under the Taliban, Afghan women are banned from studying at universities and working in most jobs. Despite these restrictions, 22-year-old Zahra Ali has started a small business producing rechargeable battery packs to address the country’s power shortages. Working from her home workshop, she builds battery packs that help her neighbors cope with unreliable electricity. Though faced with numerous challenges and limited opportunities for women, Ali remains determined to succeed. She emphasizes that women can succeed in fields like science and technology with hard work and commitment, despite the difficult circumstances.

Abba Father, we Praise You for the women like Zahra Ali in Afghanistan striving to overcome oppression and create opportunities. Protect and empower all the women and girls in the country to break through barriers and use their talents toward their goals, despite adversity (The Holy Bible, Psalm 72:14).

Almighty GOD, we pray for Your divine intervention in Afghanistan to bring about change in the country. May all the Afghan women and girls be given the freedom to learn, work, and contribute to their society (The Holy Bible, Esther 9:1).
