South Sudan is the youngest country in the world. However, the country has always struggled to survive. A civil war that displaced hundreds of thousands of people erupted immediately after the country was conceived. After six years of fighting, the country started experiencing peace when the civil war in Sudan began. South Sudan’s primary revenue is from oil transported via pipeline through Sudan. The warring factions in Sudan ruptured this pipeline and stopped this revenue indefinitely. Without the oil revenue, the government machinery, including the armed forces, will not have any income. This economic catastrophe has effectively stopped all government activities in the country, with the number of deserters from the armed forces increasing steadily.
