SENEGAL: Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are playing a growing role in empowering women across Senegal’s informal economy. Tools like mobile phones, social media, and mobile payments are helping women start and manage small businesses from home. These technologies allow them to balance household responsibilities while earning an income. ICTs also improve safety by reducing the need for physical marketplaces and enabling remote transactions, which helps protect women from potential harassment and violence that can occur in traditional market settings. Despite challenges like limited access and digital gaps, technology is becoming a key driver of economic participation and independence for women.

  • Pray for increased access to technology and education for women so that they will be equipped to grow and thrive in every sphere (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 54:13).
  • Pray for economic empowerment and dignity for women, that their work will bring provision, stability, and lasting impact in their families and communities (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 31:25).
