BHUTAN: A once clean and vital water source in Ngabiphu, near Thimphu, is now facing serious contamination issues. The Ngabirongchu stream, which supplies drinking water to multiple villages, has been polluted due to nearby settlements, poor sewage management, and improper waste disposal. Sewage leakage, garbage dumping, and runoff during rains are contaminating the open water channels. Rapid development, including infrastructure near the Institute of Management Studies, has worsened the situation due to the lack of proper sewage connections. Tests have already confirmed fecal contamination in some water samples, raising serious health concerns for over a thousand households dependent on this source. Despite local efforts to control pollution, the issue persists, highlighting the urgent need for better infrastructure, regulation, and environmental protection to ensure safe drinking water.

Abba Father, we ask for Your protection over every family depending on this water. Keep them safe from sickness and disease, and cover them with Your healing hand. Strengthen their bodies and guard their lives. Amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 103:2-3).

Lord, touch the hearts of the people to act responsibly and care for the environment. Help communities to protect their surroundings and value the resources You have given them. Amen (The Holy Bible, Genesis 2:15).
