SENEGAL: Small-scale fishers in Senegal are facing growing hardship as illegal and large industrial vessels dominate coastal waters. These foreign and commercial fleets are depleting fish stocks, making it difficult for local communities to sustain their daily income. Many families who depend on fishing are now struggling to survive as catches continue to decline. The situation is also creating tension between local fishers and authorities over enforcement gaps. Without stronger regulation, the traditional fishing economy risks long-term collapse.

  • Pray for just governance and strict enforcement against illegal fishing, that authorities will protect the rights and livelihoods of local communities (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 1:17).
  • Pray for economic restoration for fishing families, that their work will be fruitful and their needs will be met abundantly (The Holy Bible, Deuteronomy 28:12).
