GAZA STRIP: According to UN agencies, heavy rainfall over the past week has made the already tough living conditions worse for the hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. UNICEF spokesperson Jonathan Crickx told the BBC that the weather overnight was “horrendous,” with rain so heavy that he observed up to 15 cm (6 in) of water on the ground near his office. He expressed great worry that children living in tents and temporary shelters with wet clothes might suffer from hypothermia and other health issues. The health ministry in Gaza, which is run by Hamas, reported that one baby has died from hypothermia, and at least 11 other people have lost their lives due to building collapses caused by the severe weather.
- Pray that God will shelter displaced children and families from the harsh weather, protect them from hypothermia and disease, and provide warmth, dry shelter, and urgent medical care (The Holy Bible, Psalm 91:1).
- Ask God to release mercy over Gaza, strengthen humanitarian workers, and open doors for immediate aid—safe shelter, food, and medical supplies—for those suffering from the storms and displacement (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 58:7).
