SENEGAL: Senegal has chosen to halt all extraditions to France, claiming that Paris is not cooperating. Dakar has been unsuccessfully attempting to extradite two Senegalese citizens who are currently in France. Because of this situation, Senegal will not extradite 12 individuals wanted by France until it gets a positive reply from Paris regarding its own requests. The justice minister did not reveal the names of the two Senegalese individuals involved, but this decision comes shortly after French courts postponed a ruling until February on whether to return Madiambal Diagne, a Senegalese media figure and government critic. Diagne is wanted in Senegal due to alleged financial misconduct. French courts have asked for more information before deciding on Senegal’s extradition request. The Senegalese government insists it has given all the necessary evidence. Diagne’s lawyers argue that Dakar’s action is a form of “diplomatic blackmail.” France and Senegal signed an extradition agreement back in 2021.
- Lord, we ask that justice be carried out with integrity between Senegal and France. Let every legal process be guided by truth, fairness, and wisdom, free from political pressure or misunderstanding. May evidence be evaluated rightly and decisions made in honor of righteousness and human dignity (The Holy Bible, Leviticus 19:15).
- Father, we pray for peaceful dialogue and restored cooperation between Senegal and France. Grant wisdom to leaders, judges, and diplomats to resolve this dispute without escalation, fostering mutual respect and international harmony (The Holy Bible, Romans 12:18).
