INDONESIA: The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reported that the recent floods and landslides in Sumatra have resulted in 604 deaths, with 468 individuals still unaccounted for. The government is working to create access to remote areas. One road that has started to reopen is the Tarutung-Padangsidimpuan route, thanks to the efforts of the Public Works Agency. Additionally, three helicopters from BNPB and the Indonesian Army are delivering essential supplies, kitchen equipment, fuel, generators, and satellite communication tools like Starlink. BNPB is actively searching for victims, reopening roads, restoring important services, and addressing the basic needs of the community.

  • Pray that God’s comforting presence surrounds the families who have lost loved ones and those still waiting for news of the missing. Ask the Lord to strengthen their hearts, ease their sorrow, and give them hope in the midst of overwhelming grief (The Holy Bible, 1 Peter 5:7).
  • Pray for the safety, endurance, and effectiveness of the BNPB teams, military personnel, and all responders working to reach remote areas, reopen roads, and deliver essential supplies. Ask God to guide their hands, protect them, and accelerate the restoration of communication, transportation, and community life (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 41:10).
