SENEGAL: Senegal’s Tourism Faces Setbacks as United Airlines Stops Direct Flights from Washington to Dakar. United Airlines has decided to end its flights from Washington Dulles to Dakar starting in March 2026, which will affect travel and tourism. These flights began in May 2025 and ran three times a week on a Boeing 767-300. The final flight will take place on March 4, 2026. After this, Delta Airlines will be the only North American airline offering direct flights to Dakar, Senegal.

United’s departure highlights the difficulties that new airlines face when trying to enter the West African market. As Senegal leads Africa in tourism, it will also feel the effects of this change. This situation reflects the constantly changing landscape of flights between Africa and the USA, especially for routes that are less popular and harder to fill.

  • Lord, we pray for Senegal’s tourism sector during this setback. As United Airlines ends its route, we ask that you protect the nation’s economy, provide new opportunities, and open better doors that strengthen travel, jobs, and development in Senegal (The Holy Bible, Psalm 139:9).
  • Father, we ask for divine wisdom and favor for Senegal’s aviation and tourism authorities. Let new partnerships emerge, routes be restored, and better airlines be drawn to Senegal. May the challenges in the West African market be replaced with stability, growth, and open skies (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 16:3).
