TIBET: Sikyong Penpa Tsering, the elected leader of the Central Tibetan Administration, started his official visit to the United States with several meetings on Capitol Hill, even though the U.S. government is currently shut down. During his trip, Sikyong spoke with members of Congress and important Senate committee staff to promote the Tibetan cause and to discuss ongoing U.S. support for Tibetan programs. This includes conversations about funding and legislative priorities that aim to improve the lives of Tibetan communities. Sikyong continues to work hard for Tibetan interests, hoping to achieve real results. His agenda in Washington, D.C., has many more meetings and interviews planned in the days ahead as he reaches out to strengthen support for Tibet. He was joined by Representative Namgyal Choedup from the Office of Tibet in Washington, D.C., along with Ryan Fioresi and Franz Matzner from the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT).
- Lord, we pray for divine wisdom, courage, and favorable outcomes for Sikyong Penpa Tsering and his colleagues, Namgyal Choedup, Ryan Fioresi, and Franz Matzner, as they meet with U.S. leaders to advocate for the Tibetan cause. Pray that their conversations will be productive, that they will be granted favor, and that they will have a clear, effective voice despite challenges like the government shutdown (The Holy Bible, 1 Timothy 2:1, 2).
- Lord, we pray for the Tibetan communities, both in exile and inside Tibet, that they would receive the support, funding, and protection needed to improve their lives and preserve their culture. Pray for justice for the oppressed and for the perseverance of all those working for the Tibetan people’s well-being (The Holy Bible, Psalm 82:3).
