In Afghanistan, many people, especially women and young people, are attempting suicide due to hopelessness, poverty, and strict Taliban rules. Rakhshana, an 18-year-old girl in Kabul, tried to take her life after the Taliban closed her education center. Many women suffer from abuse and forced marriages, with no way to escape because divorce is not accepted, and women cannot live alone. One woman said she tried to end her life after her parents forced her to return to her abusive husband. Men also face deep stress, mostly from unemployment and poverty. One man tried to hang himself after failing to find work to feed his family. Although suicide cases are increasing, many are not reported due to religious and cultural reasons. There is no official help, such as mental health services or hotlines. Survivors say they feel lost and alone, with no support or hope for a better future under Taliban rule.
Pray for the end of the oppressive regime in Afghanistan. Pray for a political transformation and open doors for democracy in the country, for nothing is impossible with the LORD (The Holy Bible, Luke 1:37).
Pray for the Afghans, especially Afghan women and girls, to have access to all their needs and rights in their homeland. Pray for the LORD to bless the Afghans with hope and a bright future (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 23:18).
In the Mighty and Marvelous Name of our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ, we say to the nation of Afghanistan and its people, ‘Live!’ Amen (The Holy Bible, Ezekiel 16:6).
