West Bank: A 5th-century church and an ancient Christian cemetery were severely vandalized by Israeli settlers in Taybeh, the last Christian town in the West Bank. The priests from the Latin, Greek Catholic, and Greek Orthodox churches in Taybeh issued a strong appeal to the international community, expressing their grave concern over the escalating and documented assaults by illegal Israeli settlers on the town’s land, sacred sites, and properties. They highlighted the official silence surrounding these issues, which heightens the sense of danger and lack of protection. The priests called on consuls, ambassadors, and church representatives worldwide for an immediate and transparent investigation into the incidents of arson and attacks. They urged pressure on the Israeli occupation authorities to prevent settlers from accessing the town’s lands and to send international missions to document these violations. Additionally, they requested support for the residents of Taybeh through economic, agricultural, and legal initiatives, stressing that the Holy Land cannot thrive without its original inhabitants.

  • Lord, we pray for the protection of the Christian community in Taybeh and other vulnerable areas in the West Bank. Ask God to surround them with His peace and guidance and to bring awareness and action from the international community in response to the escalating violence and vandalism of sacred sites (The Holy Bible, Psalm 9:9).
  • Lord, we pray for justice and restoration for the victims of the vandalism in Taybeh. Ask for divine intervention in the investigations called for by the priests and plead for the healing of the wounds inflicted on the community’s sacred land and heritage. May the truth be revealed, and may those responsible face accountability (The Holy Bible, Micah 6:8).
