Tibet: According to the latest annual report from the US State Department on access to Tibet, China continues to prevent US government officials, journalists, and other visitors from entering the region. Tibetan-Americans wishing to visit their homeland face even tougher obstacles. The State Department noted that they undergo more rigorous visa evaluations, invasive background checks, and coercive practices such as mandatory downloads of tracking software.
Once in areas populated by Tibetans, Tibetan Americans often encounter increased harassment and intimidation from Chinese security forces. In contrast, Chinese authorities selectively allow access to foreign influencers and bloggers, whose curated tours and state-sanctioned narratives differ significantly from the experiences of those who are denied entry.

  • Lord, we pray for the freedom and safety of Tibetans: God protect the people of Tibet from persecution and oppression. Pray that those who seek to visit their homeland, including Tibetan-Americans, will find safe passage and that their stories will be heard and recognized (The Holy Bible, Psalm 68:5).
  • Lord, we pray that the international community will pay attention to the ongoing struggles in Tibet and advocate for the rights of those denied access. Ask God to raise up voices that can speak out against injustices and bring about change (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 31:8-9).
