Stroke is a growing health threat in Bhutan, affecting more young people due to high blood pressure, diabetes, and poor lifestyles.
Globally, stroke causes over 6.5 million deaths yearly, and Bhutan is seeing a sharp rise in cases. In rural Bhutan, limited access to care and poor stroke awareness worsen outcomes. Many strokes go unnoticed or are treated too late, causing serious long-term effects. To fight this, the Bhutan Stroke Foundation (BSF) has screened over 19,000 people since 2023. Shockingly, 70–80% were found at high risk, mostly due to high blood pressure.
Abba Father, we ask for healing and protection over the people of Bhutan. Strengthen their bodies and give them access to care. Let Your hand rest upon those at risk and bring recovery to those already suffering (The Bible, Psalm 41:3).
Lord, give wisdom to families, doctors, and leaders in Bhutan. Open their eyes to the signs of stroke and teach them healthy habits. May Your wisdom lead to better prevention and timely care (The Bible, Hosea 4:6).
